HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL.
The first social, of its hind ever held by the High School was greatly enjoyed by the 84 pupils and high school teachers present at St. Mary’s Hall Qn Wednesday evening. Keith Muiinder, head prefect, who was M.C., set the ball Bolling by wishing all present a very happy time. He apologised for the absence qf the headmaster, Mr Boss, who was, unfortunately, indisposed.. The hall had been tastefully decorated by the committee of the Nau Mai Assembly, for their dance on the next night, and they were kind enough to allow the pupils to make use of them. Mesdames Foss aiid Marsh were chaperones. The programme, which consisted of games, dances and musical items, was verv popular. Vera Aim sang, Ena Fogden gave a recitation, while pianoforte selections were contributed by Isohel Anderson, Fred Davies and Eunice Liddell. A humorous item was given by the seniors, the junior scholars entertaining the as semblage with various charades. The competitions carrying prizes were won bv J. Broughton and Eileen Shaw, the booby prizes being won by Master Challies and Eileen Magee. These prizes were presented to the winners by Ngaire Lemmon, the senior prefect. ■ A generous supper was provided oy Mr Williams. Pupils from Shannon and Otaki were accommodated for the night, by the parents of local scholars. “Auld Lang Syne” marked the conclusion of jollities among a very happy gathering.
