“SWIFT, SUDDEN & SURE.”

British Fascist! Threaten Miners’ Leader. CLAIM HALF MILLION MEMBERS. MINERS ACCUSED OF BLACKMAIL. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) • LONDON, August 14. Mr Cook, the miners’ leader, to-day received a black-edged envelope containing a British Fascist! pamphlet, entitled “Communism Unmasked,” wherein is written: “We are ready for you and your dupes—swift, sudden and sure. We long for the day to .cleanse the country iof such blackmailers and we are now five hundred thousand strong. This is the first of three warnings," Mr Cook, commenting on the pamphlet, suggested it was time the British Government took action against persons threatening the leaders of a trade union movement and British citizens. He was Fritish and no threats would deter him from doing his duty. Open encouragement of such threats would only lead to the formation of similar working class organisations, Which would result in serious conflict and perhaps civil war. BLACKSHIRTS AND RAPIERS. WILL STAMP OUT COMMUNISTS CONFLICTS IN LONDON. LONDON, August 2. Five hundred Communists, after breaking up a Fascisti meeting at “Hot Air Corner,” Hyde Park, attempted to storm the headquarters of the Nationalist Blackshirts in Chape! Street, London. A hundred police intervened and arrested three of the Reds Newspapermen state that they “penetrated the guards at the Fascist! headquarters. The guards were holding glittering rapiers in their itching hands. The visitors found the back rooms full of excited heroes and heroines, who were preparing bowls of water and rolls of lint, in anticipation of casualties in defence of constitutionalism.” Newspapers demand a Government investigation of the Fascisti organisation, and point out that London has a sufficiency of armed feuds in race gangs, and that it is intolerable that armied political associations should be allowed to break the peace The - National Fascisti responsible for the Hyde Park conflicts with the Communists broke away from the British Fascisti last October, wanting deeds not words. - The Nationalists, who mostly are youthful, regard their leader, Howard, as a budding Mussolini. They announce their intention 'Qf stamping out Communist meetings, and tearing down the red flag Whenever it is seen in Hyde Park. Their motto is “Hats off to the past, coats off to the future!” “WAR TO THE KNIFE.” Howard states: “We have vowed to carry on the task until the Communists are frightened to show the Red Flag in any public park in Britain. We stand for the integrity of the Empire. Hitherto the Reds have always broken up cur meetings. Now we are strong enough to retaliate. “It is war to the knife. We are not opposed to trade unions, excepting the section which is endeavouring to turn the movement into a political weapon.”
