(From the Shannon News.) From enquiries made -yesterday at the Palmerston North hospital it was learned that the ,'condijtion of his Worship the Mayor (Mr Murdoch) was improving. Mrs 3. V. Burns, of the local teaching staff, has been granted a month’s leave of absence, to enable her to visit her mother and sister in Australia, the latter, being seriously ill. It was stated at the Borough Council meeting that when the notice boards for parking cars axe erected that the police will be asked to take action against offenders. The capital value of the Borough of Shannon for rating purposes for the year 1925-26 is £194,625, as against £190,637 for 1924-25, an increase of £3988. At the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening it was reported that by some means or other children have been opening the doors in the Pavilion at the Domain and entering the building, causing mischief. It was resolved that in the future any person found in the Pavilion without authority, be prosecuted, also that the matter be brought under the notice of the police.
