OIL IN AUSTRALIA.
Gil ANT FOR PROSPECTING. (Received This Day, 9.55 am.) MELBOURNE, August 13. The Federal Government has decided to withdraw its offer of a reward or bonus of £50,000 for the discovery of oil in commercial quantities m Australia and to'authorise an expenditure of £50.000 in certain areas of New South Wales, West Australia, and Queensland in which it is advised there is a reasonable chance of the occurrence of oil.
