THE ABANDONED AWAROA.
ACTION OF MASTER JUSTIFIED. (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m) MELBOURNE, August 13. The Court of Marine inquiry found ahat the steamer Awaroa was battered by the gale in Bass Strait and that her master and crew were justified in abahdoning her. The Court expressed the opinion that the vessel at the time of abandonment would not have remained afloat any length of time and further found that the vessel was apparently seaworthy and not improperly loaded or overloaded. The Court wss unable to deter , mine the cause of the leak.
