t LADY SWIMMER’S CLOSE CALL. (Received'This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, August 11. Miss Lillian Harrison commenced a swim channel front, Cape Gris Nez, but abandoned the attempt., after eight miles. She fainted in the water and commenced to sink in the choppy sea. Helmi, an Egyptian aspirant for Channel honours, jumped overboard from the accompanying tug, but failed to .hold Miss Harrison owing to the grease with, which she was plentifully besmeared. Others swam with ropes* and hauled her aboard.
