PROPOSED VISIT TO POPE.

A PROTESTANT’ PROTEST. LARGE ALBERT HALF. MEETING. (Received Wednesday, 7 p.m.) LONDON. April 11. What is described as a great Protestant appeal against the proposed Royal visit to the Pope was made at a packed meeting in the Albert Hall, Lord G sborough presiding. A resolution was passed: "That this great demonstration by loyal subjects of the Crown regards with serious apprehension and regret the announcement that the King and Queen of England are to visit the Pope, and respectfully and dutifully submits that as this will be the source of great grief to millions of Their- Majesties’ devoted subjects. the visit should be abandoned. It appea's to the Prime Minister to submit to the King the inadvisability of the visit and calls upon the Government immediately to withdraw the British Envoy to the Vatican, seeing that diplomatic relations with the (Pope are an in fr in gem ent of the Constitution and a grave menace to the welfare of this Protestant Kingdom.”
