Inquiries in official circles disclosed that since 1914 89 per cent of war death sentences have been commuted. All cases of military prisoners have been reviewed at least thrice since the Armistice, largely at the initiative of Mr Churchill, resulting in none being now imprisoned for military offences. lOnly 63 per cent are undergoing penal servitude, of whom 57 will be released -within a year.
