Lack of Shipping.
A FOXTON COMPLAINT.
It was repartee! at the meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board, belclt in Palmerston North yesterday, that although the river from a navigable point of view was never better, there was a dearth of shipping, and means should he taken to endeavour to effect an improvement.
The Foxtou members deplored the lack of interest in the Board, by dis--1 rict local bodies other than their representatives. If these bodies took the matter up and encouraged local business- people to use the port, |here was every likelihood of an improvement being brought about, and tlade resuscitated.
After further consideration, the Board decided 'to issue invitations to the Chambers of Commerce, of Levin, Palmerston North and Foxton, also the Foxton Borough Council, to meet the Board at Foxton in the near future to go into the whole matter with the object of improving the trade of the port.
