Shipping Slump.
THE OWNERS’ POINT OF VIEW. (Received This Lay, -8.35 a.m.) London, January 26. Lord Inchcape, in a letter to the Times referring to the difficulties facing shipowners as a result of the stewards’ union’s demand,, says the owners may be forced next season to tei - minate the passenger service to Continental ports. The increased accommodation demanded by the stewai'ds would necessitate giving up the passenger accommodation, resulting in increased fares. Lord Inchcape adds that at present the owners would he in pocket hy laying up their ships in charge of an old caretaker and a lev aged charwomen.
