A pair of young Leghorn fowls in a sugar bag were left at the It-ed Cross shop by some kind donor last

Tuesday afternoon. The ladies of the Red Cross committee would like to know- whom they have to thank for this gift, and also whether the donation was intended for any partioular effort or not. If the information deired i.s convoyed to cither Mrs Goldsmith or the secretary of the Patriotic Society (Mr C. S. Koedwell) it will be much appreciated.

Three Levin soldiers—Privates G. Robertson, A. McDonald and E. Harwood—are returning invalided from the front.

Last Tuesday the effort for the Xmas Pudding and Gift Parcels Fund was re|newed, Mrs Wright and Mrs Kirkcaldie being in charge of tho shop. The result exceeded all expectations, £40 9s being taken for the day. This does not include Bomo things which have yet to be sold. The result of the competitions was: cake won by A. V. The ladies of the local Red Cross committee desire to acknowledge the receipt of a cheque for £5 towards the funds from Mr T. C. Paulin. This gentleman has sent similar donations of a like amount on more than one occasion before this, and the ladies are very grateful for such practical assistance from a well-wisher. Saturday's shop day benefited by the cheque and Mrs Mclntyre and Miss Bellingliam who were in charge handed over the splendid sum of £11 2s 8d for the days work, a result which was hardlyexpected after the two big davs which ba,ve just been held for the iGift Parcel Fund.
