Races at Foxton.

- LEVIN HORSES SUOuESSIFUL. Foxtoin [Racing Club's Summer Meeting was begun yesterday, in splendid ■weather and in presence of what must have been a irecord attendance. The fields "wore' largo in all but two of the eight ©vents, and some exciting finishes wero seen. Three Lcvin-trained horses 'were amongst the successful competitors: Mr W. MoKemg's Lndify, Mr R. A. McDonald's Sir Willace, and Mr G. Penfold's Need. In tho Fbixton Clip (1J mile) Lad'iv ran a dead 'heat for first place with tho promoted hurdlc-racer Ivurupai, after a hard tussle up the straight. An improving lio'rse, in Master Mo'utoa, ran into third place. The .race was riming the good time (for a. sandy .court) of 2min 9sec. A geld whip was given by Mr Freemain to the rider of the cup winner. As there wore two winning jockeys, there had to be a toss-up for possession, and tHie ridor of Kurupai (T. Metcnlif) won by a head from. O. Garment (rider of Ladify.) Sir Wallace put up a good performance in - ivinning the A wall on Hack 'Welter. Ho had top-weight (lOsfc lib), •and ho cut out the 1 mile 100 yards in very fast time. Hhis farm so pleased one visitor to the course that he endeavoured to purchase Sir, Wallace, hut the owners decided not to sell shim. Arlington wc* the Hurdle Race from four other n.liners. Mount Victoria jumped to the front in the first hundred y.nrds <and maintained his lead for one and a half miles, hut ho came a cropper at the last hurdle. Sir 'Fisher finished fast and gained second placets; Wirokino third. Darkuri was distanced. ' Starengo gained the: stake in the ■- Himitangi Handicap; iHahzoltov second and Altercation third. iln a. big field of maiden runners, HjiiUpai proved best, tllie disappointing iLtdy Edith being beaten on tho piost once more. Dusky Ere, who ran third, is a likely sort of horse to do better in the near future. Interlude was backed for the Anniversary Handicap as if the result was a foregone affair, but he ran only third tin a field of four. Need won by a gap from Princess Moutoa. , Foeman—a half brother to Ba.llarat and full brother to Square Deal—won tho Dash Handicap (oj- furlongs) from Ortasswords 1 (second) Rewa Rewa (third) and ten others runners. The second horse .ran a good race and is likely to be seem in .first place before the season ends. The last race of the day (a seven furlongs contest) fell to Golden Glade, who beat Hiishiabyo after a ding-doing go up the straight. Namur, a Levintrained galloper ran into third place.
