WEEKLY PRODUCE REPORT

Wellington, March Its.

The market for potatoes remains steady, and the supply good, aud keen competition prevails for choice lines. Onions are now available lroin South ai" lower rates, and fair business is passing. Wβ still continue to quote fowl wheat at 7s (id bushel, which is below landed cost from the south at the moment. We do not intend to increase the price as long as oua- present stock lasts. Very little business is doing in oats, on account of the Government placing embargo on shipments to Australia.. Barley has advanced 6d per bushel since las report. Moderate business is paesin gin maize, and local stocks are small. Seed Algerian oats are in exceptionally good 'demand. We have now a fair quantity for immediate delivery. Good business continues to be done in grass seed. The demand for chaff is well maintained. Wheat etra wis plentiful but oaten is very scarce, the dry weather being responsible for the fact that farmers require their own stock reed. Porkers are in good demand, but suckers are rather dul lof sale. Eggs have advanced. New season's honey is enquired for, and we recommend consignments of choice lines. Cabbages are dull of sale. Choice lines of cauliflowers are in short supply, and small lines offering realise satisfactory prices. Green peas and beans are abou.t done, and choice lines meet good competition. Swedes are more plentiful and dull of sale. All root vegetables are in good demand. Choice lettuces are scarce, and satisfactory prices are ruling. Celery meets fair demand. Mushrooms are eagerly bought up. Demand for choice dessert and cooking apples remains firm and present values are satisfactory. Cooking and dessert pears meet fair sale. Auckland passion fruit are arriving regularly and values arc weaker. The supply of tomatoes from the Hutt has incrensed censiderably and values are much lower. We think present prices will remain unchanged for some little time. The demand for blackberries is very good. Grapes are mooting ready sale. VEGETABLES..
