There was almost a riot at the HurunuiOrangi pa, (..Mailstone, yesterday afternoon, when natives, to a post mortem ex-v\ annEL»i.ion being made of Pita Kawe.na, who died suddenly on Tuesday night. There were two tactions- -one willing' to allow the examination, and the other against. The latter faction wanted to remove the body to Te Ore Ore pa, Masterton, but the other party refused point blank, and for a time it looked likely that a serious outbreak would occur. Finally the counsels of Purakau, Maika and Ngatuere prevailed, and after a meeting for three hours, to talk the matter over, it was decided to allow the post mortem and leave the body at TTuruuuioraugi for an examination to be held at 12.-'{(). "ONE TAKEN AND THE OTHER LEFT." Reefton. This Day. A peculiar death occurred here yesterday. Late in the afternoon a miner named Coon, while working at the Keep It Dark mine, was somewhat injured through a fall of stone. First aid was rendered by John McLean, junior, a timber man at the surface, who shortly after reeled and fell. lie was tak(M) home, and died on arrival there. Coon is doing well.
