[Our corresyoudeute' opinion* are ttieir owu -, itu> twepoußibilitj of xhtorial onea uiakea sufficient ballast for the edoor'a shoulders.j MR ROBERTSON'S PLEDGE. (To the- Editor). Sir,—'Mr Robertson's promise during his election campaign was to oust the "Ward Administration, that is the last Cabinet, and. also vote for a. want-of-coiifideiice motion ae regards the Massey party. The Opposition people make me laugh; they still maintain that Mr Robertson should have got Mr Massey in power. Mr Robertson was always ap- . posed to Mr Massey and never once said he would vote to get him into power. Mr 'Robertson broke no I pledges to the Opposition people, for these reasons. Again, when Mr Robertson kept his word that lie would not support Mr Massey he knew that the Ward Administration, including Sir Joseph Ward, had promised to go out of existence and that was all the Opposition wanted. They said during the campaign thai they did not want tlie Liberal party or its policy swept away, but .Sir Joseph Ward and his administration: i.e.. his Cabinet. Well, as Sir Joseph had promised the House before the division that such would take place. 1 cannot for the life of me see how Mr Hohertson broke a pledge, for what the Opposition wanted had occurred, Tieforo !\IY Robertson votod on the division ; and the Opposition must have hoard Mr Robertson say during his tvniipaign that his policy was entirely different from the Liberal Party's and the Reform Party's, and that he would support neither party; also that he would vote against either on a no-confidence- motion. My misou for writing is because T heard it said that Mr Robertson has stated that "bad lie promised to support the Ward party instead of tho Reform party on a no-confidence motion he would have secured a larger majority of Mr Field's votes, f am saying nothing aliout this as I do not think it correct, because the Liberals will never throw over Mr Field): but what T want to correct is the impression erroreously circulated that Mr Robertson promised to support the Reform Party.— Yours, etc.. FTELDITE.
