Potatoes have advanced during the week, but the market is very unsteady, and may come back at any time. Canterbury onions are now offering freely, and lower values are certain. and supplies are scarce. Poultry is still low, nnilinly owing to the very inferior quality of that reaching the market. Wheat is firm. Pollard is almost unprocurable, and barley meal is taking its place untill the mills re-commence in about

but pi'osgects are uncertain. Good crops are everywhere reported, and good shipping business done with Australia, but supplies from South Africa arc now tending to supplant New Zealand cargoes. We expect to see lower values shortly. Fruit.—Australian pears reached us in good order, and sold readily at high prices. Local aprciots and peaches have advanced, and are in excellent demand.
