Sponge for Carpet Cleaning.
hen a carpet is simply Jnsty, an excellent way to clean the room is to substitute for a hard, sweeping a sponging of the carpet or rugs. A big carriage sponge and a biickifcjt <:if lukewarm water are 10 Juired. The sponge wrung as ry as possible from' the water, is passed la-pid-ly over the carpet, nnscd in the bucket of water and another strip of car-pet sponged. This is repeated till the whole surface is cleaned. The water in the bucket is changed, of course, as necessary. The beauty of this method is that there is .no dust- or fluff left in corners, or dust in the air to settle back afterwards, as there is when a room is swept. ft can be done quite as rapidly as a broom sweep, too, if the saving of time in dusting is allowed for. A
sponge is an excellent thing for dusting, also. A danvp sponge can he rapidly passed over the edges of door-frames, chair rungs, windowledges, (and similar places ,a.nd it leaves a thoroughly clea.ii surface.
