Canterbury Cup Won By Wild Chase

OAKS TO TOE NOTCH By Telegraph —Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 11. The Canterbury Jockey. Club’s Metropolitan meeting was continued to-day, the weather being fine and the course in good order. The attendance was excellent and the totalisator investments amounted to £38,256 compared with £22,670 on the corresponding day last year, when the weather was bad. Sir George Clifford’s successes to-day with Trench Eight, Wild Chase and Top Notch give him eight wins foy the meeting. Results:—

Crossing the top Trench Fight and Plato piloted the field, and led into the straight from Dungarvan, Pakanui, Boomerang and Concert Pitch. In a hard finish Trench Fight beat Plato by a neck, Dungarvan being two lengths away. Boomerang was fourth. Time, 1.38 1-5. Gustos and Cuddle led into the back, followed by Wild Chase, Master Brierly and Argentic. At the mile Custos and Cuddle were five lengths clear of Wild Chase, and the order was the same to the half mile, where Cuddle took charge and led' into the straight from Wild Chase, Argentic and Master Brierly, Wild Chase drew out at the distance and beat Cuddle by a length and a-half. Master Brierly was half a length away third and Argentic fourth. Time, 2.33.
