FENCE FOR PARK

Napier A.A. and C.C. Benefit Meeting

Napier borough councillors have pledged themselves to give full support to a scheme being organised by the Napier Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, with the co-operation of the Napier Thirty Thousand Club, whereby the proceeds from a special programme for the club’s opening night this summer will be donated towards the erection of a brick fence on the Morris street boundary of McLean Park. The idea is to invite various Napier firms to enter women’s teams for events at the Athletic Club's opening meeting, the teams to assemble at the Sound Shell and then march to the park. The reserves committee reported to the Napier Borough Council last evening that Messrs A. D. Lynch, of the Athletic Club, and S. P Spiller, of the Napier Thirty Thousand Club, had outlined the scheme. The committee recommended that the council’s patronage be extended to the suggestion and that councillors pledge themselves to support it, and this recommendation was adopted.
