TARADALE JUBILEE
Special Function for Old Identities Considerable interest is being taken in the forthcoming jubilee celebrations of the Taradale Town District in Do ceniber next, and an enthusiastic meeting of the general committee was held last night, Mr J. Williamson presiding over a good attendance. Mr l<. Brown was appointed general secretary. In connection with the special fuuc tion to be held for old identifier, the chairman stated that the Town Boa.'d had given consideration to the proposed luncheon to be tendered, and it had been suggested that all persons who had been resident of the district for over 40 years and past-members of !he Town Board should be invited. It was reported that the various churches had expressed their willingness to participate in a general thanks giving service. The chairman of the Carnival Queen Committee reported that arrangements were practically completed <or four candidates to be forthcoming. Steps are to be taken to secure a fifth candidate if possible. Mr J. Wainscott was appointed chairman of the Citizens’ Ball Committee. Lengthy consideration was given to the question of issuing a souvenir booklet, which is to inelude the full history of the district from the earliest days of settlement in the early ’sixties
