AMATEUR BOXING
Formation of Club and Gymnasium ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING A largo and enthusiastic gathering of those intrusted in the formation of a club for amateur boxing and a gymnasium met at the Friendly Societies’ Hall, Bastings, last night. .Mr. C. Bunker was in the chair. Mr. J. MacDonald outlined the objects and aims of the proposed club being spported by Messrs. Artie Hay, Davies mid Leu Knuckey. Mr. j. Maddox and Mr. Hay promised to give their support of boxing and Mr. j. Stickland, on behalf ot the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association, said they would give every assistance to the club, as a suitable gyninasiurtl lor the use of boys and youths of this district would fill a long-felt want. On the proposition being put to tho meeting it was resolved to form the Hustings Boxing mid Gymnasium Club mu] tho lolloning committee was elected b’i tile first year.—Secretary, Mr. I. W. Franklin; Treasurer, Mr. F. W. Franklin; Chairman, Mr. C. Bunker; also Messrs. II G. Apperlev, J. Spencer, J. M. MacDonald, L. Knuckey, J. B. Fletcher, A. Hay, .1. B. Br inton, H Duckett and W. W. llainiworth 'The matter of renting a suitable hall was left in the hands of the committee. It was decided that an honorary members list be opened, the fee to be a minimum of 7/6 per annum. A scale of lees for active members will bo decided later, and a public appeal will h ( . made for support, A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. .1. Stickland, who kindly promised to donato the membership tickets. The committee intend to get into action straight away, mid a furtlnr meeting will be called al an early dale.
