Social and School Ball Eroin Our Owu Correspondent. OTANE, June 18. A bright, informal social evening, arranged by members of St. Jauiot’ Church congregation was held on Wed nesday evening in the Sunday school. The room was decorated with flowers and greenery. The guests were welcomed by the vicar, the Rev. R. T. Hall and Airs Hall. Tho time passed pleasantly and very quickly with games, competitions, com munity singing and individual items. After supper, a happy hour was spent in dancing. Miss Horner contributed a bracket of delightful pianoforte numbers by a German, Austriau and French composer respectively. Miss Joy Clark sang and Miss Francis Pilcher recited. Another popular item was the tap dancing by Miss Beryl Scrimgeour. Several numbers were given by the choir.

Miss Marguerita Clark was the win ner of the musical stick game. lu the geographical competition. Misses Leonie Collins, Joy Clark and Vera Smith tied for first place, and in an amusing musical marriage competition, arranged by Miss Horner, Mrs G. Collins and Miss V. Smith divided the honours. Accompaniments were played by Mrs G. Collins and’Miss Horner. SCHOOL BALL. An event which year by year loses nothing of its attraction and one which is eagerly awaited by young and old is the Otane school’s annual plain and fancy dress ball. It is the one night in the year when every member of the family can meet together and be assured of spending a delightfully happy time. Everything possible is done to ensure the success of tho function and those who have not previously had the pleasure of attending this dance should make a point of joining the happy throng that will assemble at the town hall on Monday night, June 22, and spend one of the happiest evenings of their lives. Air Gordon Redward’s popular orchestra will supply the music, the floor will be in excellent dancing order and I the supper of the best. Children’s hours are from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 pan. and adults from 9.30 to 2 a.ni.
