HAWKE’S BAY HUNT

Enjoyable Meet at Bridge Pa (Contributed.) The Hawke’s Bay Hunt met on the day of the annual ball at Bridge Pa, and hunted country by courtesy of Mr. N. H. Campbell, Mr. R. E. Talbot, Mr. Mclntyre, Mr. Jack Lyons and Air. Edwards. Particular thanks go to Air. Campbell, whose river bed land provided the best and most interestline that hounds have followed for som© time. It was a chase that took tho field over the biggest fences that horses and riders have seen this season. Unfortunately the fences proved too big for several of the followers, though there were no serious falls, some mishaps proved most amusing to the large gathering of spectators that followed on loot. Hounds drew Air. Edwards paddock and moved to Air. Campbell’s, finding near the river. The hare did two circles on the flats and was finally killed near the pine plantation behind the woolshed. The Alaster then took his field back to Bridge Pa and across the road, where the followers spread out. The flats were well coinbed to produce no run. After crossing the big drain on Air. Talbot’s the field ran on top of a hare asleep in the grass and chopped. live minutes later the field started a mate to this one, and hounds worked solidly on this line till darkness made jumping impossible. This hare led to the hilltops overlooking Greenhill and out again to the main Alaraekakaho road. Towards dusk the hunt had a good view of him only a few hundred yards ahead making back behind Mr. Talbot’s house to the hills.
