At a period of the year when most householders have nothing in their gardens, it may come as a surprise to many that at least one man can enjoy new potatoes in mid-June. Mr. W. Jackson, of Haumoana, not only has Black Kidney potatoes ready, but, so he informed a “Tribune” representative, he can show broad beans eighteen inches high and green peas already staked. The potatoes were planted out three months’-ago. Another beach resident remaiked that he has known of new potatoes grown almost all the i ear round in this district.
