Tangoio Meeting The June meeting of the Tangoio Women’s Institute was held in the school, Airs. Osborne presiding over a good attendance of members and welcoming three visitors, Miss Spencer and Mrs Hutchinson, Rissington, and Mrs Alain, Te Puke. After the singing of the Institute Ode two small girls, Ria Pohio and Rowena Spooner, delighted everyone with a Alaori welcome song and a poi dance. General business was quickly dealt with. Airs Hutchinson then gave a most interesting talk in dyeing with natural dyes and weaving, and Aliss Spencer gave a demonstration of spinning. They displayed several samples of their beautiful work. Both ladies were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The motto for the afternoon was: “Always begin at tbo bottom, except when learning to swim.” The competitions were: “Best article from a yard of cretonne. Mrs C. McKay’s work-bag was placed first and Mrs Osborne’s apron second. For “The best bloom in my garden,” Mrs Osborne was first and Airs Lowe second. After a delightful afternoon tea served by the hostesses, Alesdames Ori and Alahoney, the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem Putorino Group The monthly meeting of the Putorino Women’s Institute was held in the hall, when Mrs Mabey presided. The meeting opened with the singing of the Institute Ode. The usual businass was dealt with and the resolutions for the annual general meeting were discussed. A letter was read from the Putorino Domain Board thanking the Women’s Institute for their help and their gencr ous donation which was used to complete the new cloak room at the Puterinu Hall. ' The roll call: “An Irish Song or Story,” caused much amusement. The competitions, judged by Mis Morran, president of the Kotemaori Women’s Institute, resulted;— Best bloom, Airs. Mabey; fancy scones, Mrs Alabey 1, Mrs MacDonald 2; article from scraps of wool, Mrs Harris 1 and 3, Mrs Haigh 2. A very enjoyable afternoon tea was served by Miss MacKenzie and the singing of the National Anthem brought a happy evening to a close. Tikokino Group The June meeting of the Tikokino Women’s Institute was held in the Memorial Hall, Airs Nicholls presided. Mrs Petrowski was elected delegate to attend the Dominion conference in Dunedin. Results of competitions were as follow: —Best dish made from cold moat: Mrs Petrowski 1, Airs Wathen 2, Miss Nieholln 3. Best design for a bauucr: Airs Wathau 1, Miss Nicholls 2. The liosles.-.es’ competition was won by Mi-■ Al. Richardson. The hostesses were Mesdamej Eddy and testy and Miss Scarrott. Waipukurau Meeting Airs 11. Duckworth presided at the monthly meeting of the Waipukurau Women’s Institute, held on the Masonic Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Arrangements were made fur a flag “500” evening and dance to bo held uh June VO I Tea was dispensed by Alesdames 0. Rush, 11. Keir, A. Titnmis and Hubbard. Airs P. A. Hidden gave a most interesting talk on Japan. The competition for the day resulted: Four kinds of sweets, judged by Mrs Riddell; Airs Pederson 1, Mrs Perkins 2. Alias Aloss, a new member was enrolled.
