BRILLIANT BALL

Hastings High School Old Boys’ Success COLOURFUL SCENE Hundreds of dancers gathered at the Hastings Assembly Hall last evening to enjoy the tenth annual hall of the Hastings High School Old Boys Football Club, which surpassed all previous efforts of the club and was voted, the season’s most brilliant ball. Particularly colourful decorations were cleverly arranged. From the centre of the hall extended streamers in scalloped effect, shading from lemon to orange and red, while in between these were streamers in the club’s colours, blue and white. Dozens of tiny multi-coloured lights sparkled among the streamers, and where the main lights were turned down the scene was one ot considerable beauty. Streamers in lemon, orange and red formed the background to the stage, while along the front were shrubs and palms. From the stage Les Henry’s orchestra played an excellent programme of the newest dance tunes. In the supper-room a delicious supper was set out on the long tables, which were brightened with crystal vases of yellow and golden Iceland poppies and asparagus fern and floating bowls of marigolds and tinted leaves.
