WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Hastings committee of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association was held on Monday. Present: Messrs W. Hart (in the chair), F. J. Hull, 1,. ,T. Mackersey, F. Perrin and A. J. M. Manson. Thirty-eight returned soldiers’ cases were considered and assistance was granted in various ways, including grants amounting to £l4 11/6. A statement of payments and receipts for the month of May, showing grants to soldiers £75 5/3, grants to dependents of soldiers £22 14/9, grants to soldiers on account of other societies £6 3/-, loans to soldiers £lO 6/7 and repayments received £124 .12/3, wns placed before the meeting and ap proved. It was decided to send to Miss Holland, headmistress of Woodford House, a letter of warm appreciation of the Anzac Day donation of £l7 7/subsrribed by her pupils for the relief of distressed soldiers.
