DRIVERS’ LICENSES
Motorists Questioned INSPECTORS ACTIVE The check-up by the traffic department of the Hastings Borough Council on drivers' licenses in Hastings has resulted in a few motorists being caught without their licenses. According to the Traffic Inspector, Mr. A. C. Crawford, the position is greatly improved upon last year, when there was a fairly big number of unlicensed drivers using the roads in the early part of June. Though the department commenced its drive from the beginning of last week, it was only yesterday that it Vas intensified by the appointment of six additional inspectors, who were placed at strategic points on the outskirts of the borough and near the business area. A car was "pulledup’’ and on the driver producing his license a pink-coloured shield sticker was placed on the windscreen. When the matter of the drive was discussed by the council it was understood that prosecutions would follow where drivers failed to produce their licenses, so that probably in the near future more will he heard of the drive, which concludes this evening, in the Magistrate's Court.
