Harvey, Fulton & Hill Messrs. Harvey, Fulton, and Hill report having held one of the most successidl sales yet held in their mart, Russell street, Hastings, last Saturday. there was an exceptionally large attendance of the public, and bidding .van c.xiiaoiuiuaril.y Keen. They yarded the largest entry oi poultry tor t low, time, but nevertheless the demand was very strong and prices were even firmer than the very nigh values that have been ruling. The demand was tar from filled, and clients having poultry on hand are advised to send them in for sale. Pullets sold to 6/3, with year-old VV.L. huis up to The firm also had a very extensive entry of carpenters’ tools and sundries, and these made very good prices. Gordon Walker, Ltd.
Heavy offerings in all sections and a line attendance of buyers were features of Messrs Gordon Walker, Ltd.’s weekly market sale held on Saturday at their yards iu Russell street, Hastings. Poultry sold to excellent competition, with a particularly strong demand for pullets right ou lay, which were m short supply. Table birds realised full rates, and turkeys sold easily at improved values. Local and export vuyors were operating in full force in tho pig section, and all heavier sorts were bought at values in excess of schedule prices, with buyers’ requirements quite unsatisfied. Lighter sorts sold at improved rates. Winter milkers were inquired for in the dairy stock section. Over 10b lots of sundries came «naer the hammer, and an excellent assortment of tools, etc., sold to spirited bidding. A further consignment of timber and iron was quickly snapped up. Prices realised wore as follow:— Poultry; Table birds 2/- to 8/3, W.L. hens 2/- to 2/10 and 1/6 to 2/2, W.L. cockerels 2/6 to 3/1 and 1/6 to 2/6, W.L. pullets 3/1 to 5/3 and 2/3 to 3/6, 8.0. liens 2/3 to 3/4 and 2/- to 2/5, 8.0. cockerels 2/10 to 4/3, 8.0. pullets 4/9 to 6/8, others (hens) 1/9 to 2/5, cockerels 2/2 to 3/9, pigeons at 7d, bantams al .1/-, turkeys (goblers) 8/3, hens 5/9 to 7/3, ducks 3/- to 5/8 per pair, geese 6/-.
