Airs. Stephanie Grace Young topped the poll i-u tho election of two members to tho Canterbury University College Council by the Canterbury district Court of Convocation. Mrs. Young, who is principal of St. Margaret’s College, displaced one of the two sitting members, Air. It. A. Campbell, formerly piofessor of civil engineering at tho college. Air. Campbell is at present overseas. The other sitting member, Air. Ross Hepburn, was reelected,—Press Association. William Aloycs, married, ngefl Iff), was fatally injured through being dragged a considerable distance beneath a horse-driven timber truck on the surface workings of the Martha mine, Wailii, this morning. He was taken to tho company’s dressing station for medicnl attention, but died i shortly afterwards.—l’rcss Association.
