WRESTLING

McCready Beats Forsgren

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, June 7. Before the largest house which has ever witnessed a wrestling contest in Dunedin, Earl McCready, list, lib., defeated Jack Forsgren, 16st. 101 b., on Saturday evening by two falls to one, and retained the Empire title. It was a great contest, completely devoid of any showmanship, and neither man let up for an instant. McCready for tho first time in Dunedin was seen all out, und Forsgren gave him what was probably the toughest opposition he has had iu New Zealand. McCready scored with a crotch hold and dump in the fourth round, Forsgren equalising with a boston crab in the sixth after first dropping his opponent with a forearm jolt. McCready was still stiff when he came up for the seventh, but succeeded in evading Forsgren’s attempt at another boston crab, and countered with three flying tackles. He essayed 6 fourth, as did Forsgren also, with the result that heads met and both men dropped. McCready was first to recover and managed to stagger over t ofall on his opponent and finish the bout with a body press.
