Successful Meeting
The bi-monthly meeting of the Takapau W.D.F.U. was held in the public library on Friday, Mrs. A. E. Bayliss, president, presided over a good attendance, Mrs. N. C. Wylie acted as honorary secretary in the absence of Mrs. Poulton.
A letter of appreciation was received from Rov. Fielden Taylor, Wellington City Mission, for a parcel of clothing sent recently.
Letters acknowledging tho good work of housekeepers were received from various members who expressed their thanks for tho help that tho housekeepers had given.
It was arranged to give hospitality to members of the Blind Institute Band, which is giving a concert in Takapau in October in aid of the Blind Institute, Mrs. W. G. Morton was elected vicepresident in place of Mrs. J. C. Rolleston, who is going to England for some years.
Mrs. Frank Morton was elected to the committee in place of Mrs. T Power who had resigned. Tho president, Mrs. A. E. Bayliss, and Mrs. H. C. Tennent wore appointed delegates to the W.D.F.U. conference to bo held in Wellington. Mrs. Riddell, Hatuma, gave a talk on her travels in Japan, and showed soino beautiful samples of Japanese dresses.
Mrs. Harold Smith and Mrs A. C. F. Thomson acted as hostesses.
