MR. THOMAS’S FUTURE

Resignation Suggested

COULD SEEK RE-ELECTION

LONDON, June 7.

The "Morning Post’s’’ political correspondent says that informal representations are being made to Mr J. H. Thomas and Sir Alfred Butt that the inevitable embarrassment facing the House of Commons in discussing the Budget tribunal’s report on June 11 would bo relieved by thetr resignations. Negotiations are now proceeding between the Government and the Opposition parties with the object of finding a resolution which would unanimously be adopted. The resignation of Mr Thomas and Sir Alfred, it is pointed out, would not prevent either seeking re-election at the consequent by-elections.
