GIFT TO ART SOCIETY
Ono hundred and eighty books, about 1800 photographs and colour reproductions and some portfolios of graphic processes and of modern paintings have been offered to the Hawke’s Bay Arts Society by Dr. F. P. Keppel, president oE the Carnegie Corporation of New York. In a letter to Mr. J. Tattemah. secretary of the society, Dr. Keppel .said that the corporation was considering the allocation of a few sets of arts teaching equipment, which were available for distribution in the British Dominions this year. “If you think this material could he boused in the new gallery,” Dr. Keppel writes, ‘‘and would be useful for exhibtion and teaching purposes in the Hawke’s Bay territory, 1 should be glad to recommend to our trustees that one of the sets be allocated to Napier.” The society has replied expressing its grateful acceptance of the offer.
