Meeting of Hastings Council At the monthly meeting of the Hastings Free Kindergarten Council held •during the week, there were present. Mesdames J. Wilson (president, in the chair), G. Roach, A. F. Redgrave, F. Glenny, 11. Lovell-Smith, IL Glazebrook, A. Bryant, C. Jones, Miss amir, Miss Scotter and the secretary, Miss JI. Ford. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames 0. Moller, L'. J. Harvey, MeCorkindale, A. C. A. Hyde, W. Goddard, and Miss Lewis. The director, in her report, slated that the general health of the children was good. Special attention is being given to habit-training and to back ward children. During the winter months hot milk and rusks are supplied to the children every morning The Mothers’ Club has supplied the children with warm felt slippers. A successful “bring and buy’’ afternoon was held by the mothers in aid of funds. A talk by Mrs Bauchop was verv much appreciated, particularly her suggestion of the use of the University Extension League to gain material I'm discussion at. the club meetings. Several ohler school children give valuable assistance by putting out lhe furnish ings cacl morning. This help is very much appreciated by the director mid her assistant. The council decided Io hold a jumble side on Suf. rdav, .lune 13, the locality to be advertised later. Two remits are to be sent forward’ to the Now Zealand Free Kindergarten Union for consideration at. the forthcoming biennial conference of the union, tn be held in Wellington from ingest IS to 21. The council wishes to th-nk all who have assisted the kindergarten in any way during the mouth.
