RUNNING THE GREAT NORTHERN STEEPLECHASE.—With two circuits to go in the Great Northern Steeplechase at Ellerslie, the leaders, The Hiker and Diamond, had passed and this picture shows Billy Boy and Royal Limond landing after negotiating the water jump. Billy Boy, although a previous competitor, had yet to win the Great Northern, but had victories to his credit in the Wellington Steeples (twice) and Grand National Steeples. His success was greeted with a great ovation.
