BASKETBALL

GAME IN HASTINGS

West-Enders Defeat School

CHAMPIONSHIP TABLES

(By

“Centre.”)

Only one game was played at Ebbett Park last Saturday, the others having to be postponed when heavy rain set in. Despite the wet condition of the court, the game between High School A and West End A was a good one.

Although handling of tho ball with any accuracy was difficult, some clever passing was indulged in. West End did not get going in tho first half, and the forwards especially seemed to be in difficulties, with the result that High School led at half-lime by 7 goals to 4. In the second half, however, the experience of the older foam told, and they gradually drew ahead, winning finally by 20 to 13. Tournament. Nominations for the King’s Birthday basketball tournament on June 23 may now be given in writing to Miss I. Lovell-Smith, secretary. H.B. Basketball Union.

The yearly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Basketball Union Council was held in Waipukurau recently. Delegates were present from each association in the union—Napier, Hastings, Central Hawke’s Bay, Dannevirke and Bush. The most important business was the formation of the new constitution. The headquarters of the union for the ensuing year will be in Hastings, with Mrs K. Kingston, president .of the union, Miss E. O’Connor, secretarytreasurer, and Mrs Harris, forming the management committee. Positions of the Teams.
