NAPIER TELEPHONES
“It is very pleasing to see that the work of erecting the aut/'tnatic tele phone exchange is to be proceeded with,” said Mr L. C Rolls at the meet ing of the Napier Chamber of Com merce last night. Mr Rolls's comment nas prompted by the reading ol a letter from tlie Hun. W E Barnard stat ing that tenders for the new exchangt would be called within the next tew weeks. Mi Rolls added that since the earthquake the girls in the telcphonr exchange had had to work under try ing conditions. The reintroduction ol the automatic ’phones would be a boon to business men. “We will miss the girls’ voices,” concluded Mr Rolls, “but that cannot be helped.”
