Good Sale at Waipukurau To-day
QUALITY SELLS WELL
An entry of approximately seventy horses came forward at the horse fair held at the Waipukurau saleyards today. A moderate number of draught horses were on offer, while saddle and harness horses w’ere in good supply. There was a moderate attendance of buyers .from Hastings and Waipukurau districts. Quality entries met with the best demand, up to £6O being realised for one draught enrty, another selling at £59. Poorer and older sorts were rather quiet, however, and passings were fairly common. Saddle and harness horses set a fair demand at prices which were fairly steady on the previous fair. Tho quality of the entry in this section, however, was not very high and only a few horses made much over £l2. A selection of the entry and prices paid, from which an idea of the state of the market may be obtained, is as follows:— DRAUGHTS. One chestnut mare in foal and with a foal at foot paid £ll 10/-. A single heavy 2-year-old, unbroken filly, passed at £l5. An aged marc, broken into all places and work, passed at £l5. £32 10/- bought a good heavy 10-year-old bay mare, guaranteed to all places and work. A single 11-year-old draught mare, guaranteed to all places, made £3l 10/-. A heavy six-year old draught mare, broken, into chain, passed at £32.
One heavy 10-year-old draught gelding, broken into all places, sold at £29 10/-.
£34 bought a heavy aged mare in foal and broken into all places and work. One bay gelding, broken into all places, and 7-year-old, passed at £27. A heavy rising 6-year old gelding, well grown and finished, and broken into all places, made £59. One 9-year old gelding, guaranteed broken into all places, and well finished, passed at £29. £35 bought an aged useful gelding in good condition, and broken to all places. £6O bought a heavy rising 9-year old gelding, in good condition, broken into all places, including dray work. HACK AND HARNESS HORSES. A light four-year-old gelding, broken to shaft and useful as a eaddle horse, passed at £l3. A four-year-old gelding, useful for both saddle work and ehaft, passed at £ll.
An eight-year-old gelding, broken to all places, passed at £B. An aged draught mare, guaranteed all places made £l2 10/-. A gelding pony, guaranteed sound, and broken to saddle, made £5. One aged bay gelding, in sound condition, made £7 15/-. A rising eight-year-old cob, in good condition, guaranteed sound and quiet, made £ll.
A six-year-old mare, broken in to all harness and saddle, made £l6. A heavy aged gelding and useful cob for any work made £6. A nine-year-old pony, in sound condition, passed at £7. One good six-year-old pony mare made £B.
A five-year-old pony gelding, good hack and jumper, passed at £l5. A five-year-old bay gelding, broken to saddle, was sold at £8 5/-.
£2l bought a heavy four-year-old mare, quiet and sound, suitable for saddle or other harness work.
A rising seven-year-old pony mare, quiet and sound, used to saddle, made £ll.
One six-year-old bay gelding, in good condition, and a good saddle horse, realised £9 10/-. £8 bought a six-year-old chestnut mare, guaranteed sound and quiet. A five-year-old gelding, broken to both saddle and harness, made £7.
