Tho Minister will bo in complete charge,” said the Primo Minister today at the conclusiou of a caucus called to consider tho terms of tho Broadcasting Amendment Bill. Mr. Savage said that it was possible that the Bill would be introduced to-morrow.—Press Assn. The fact that a great wrong could be done with the best of intentions was remarked on by Dr. I. L. G. Sutherland in an address to the Christchurch Philosophical Institute last evening on tho future of the Maori race. The Government, he said, had given equal relief pay to Maoris, and had increased the public works wage scale, for which Maoris were .eligible. This constituted n temptation to young Maoris which was a threat to the successful extension of native land development schemes. These were essential to the social ns well as to the economic welfare of the race, but young men who had taken up development work with great cheerfulness for small wages were now being tempted to desert it.—Press Assn.
