WANGANUI OIL HOPES
Geologist Not Optimistic
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, June 4. Having been informed by diviners that oil existed under Wanganui, the City Council asked the Minister to have the matter further investigated. Dr. Henderson, Director of Geological Survey, accordingly x isited Wanganui yesterday'. He stated this morning that from tho geological nature of the country around Wanganui he could not hold out hope that oil could be found in payable quantities.
