NGARUAWAHIA MATCH
Rugby League Debate Subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with Taradalo and Te Ngaiue-Petane, the City League team is to bo allowed the use of League Park for -a match with the Ngaruawahia team from Hamilton on Juno 27. This matter was arranged at the weekly •meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby League Board of Control in Napier last evening, following the receipt of a letter from the City club asking for the use of the park. Considerable discussion followed a suggestion by Mr D. Thomas that all matches for that day should be postponed until the end of the season to enable all players and supporters to watch the game. Puulic interest, he said was such that other games would he poorly attended. Strenuous opposition was led by Mr It. Wilson who considered that other dubs should not be penalised for the benefit of one. The precedent established would be a dangerous one in view of the faet that other clubs who were inviting outside teams to play in Napier would expect to receive the same consideration. Both Clive and Tararjale also hoped io have teams visit them, and the club fixtures would Ire totally disorganised if postponement were allowed Other members who supported this view expressed the same opinions. Alternative suggestions made were that the game should be transferred to I'aradale, or that the Te Ngarue-Petane v. Taradalo fixture should be played as a curtain-raiser. The latter suggestion, put to the meeting in the form of a motion, was c."”r'"l.
