FRIDAY’S WRESTLING

Elliott and Russell A particularly attractive wrestling fixture has beeu arranged for Friday of this week at the Municipal Theatre, Hastings. The contestants, King Elliott, (New Zealand), and Cowboy Russell (United States of America), make a very even match. Both are versatih and exceptionally speedy in their movements. This bout will be in the nature of a return engagement, their last meeting ending in a very close points decision in favour of Elliott after a lively and thrilling encounter in which many of the passages had the huge crown on its toes. Elliott has recently returned from a strenuous season in America, in which he has gained much valuable experience. and incidentally has added a stone to his weight, making him equal to the task of tackling the best of the importations. At all times he is a fast mover and worries his opponent continually. as will bo remembered by those who witnessed his match with Bloihfield last season. He has recently wrestled Blomfield and gained a fall from him though over a stone less in weight. Cowboy Russell can always be relied upon to provide thrills; his work is fast and spectacular, and he prides himself in being something of a “tough guy”. Excellently built and weighing about 15 stone, he combines strength with great speed. Ho specialises in the suplex hold, a variation of the back loop slam. The Hawke’s Bay Wrestling Association has at last managed to secure a suitable opponent for E. Morley. The star amateur bout will bo between Ted Morley and C. '"atson, of Wanganui, who was the runner-up in the welter Weight championships of New Zealand, ■’’atson’s reputation is such that he should definitely extend our Hustings class exponent of the art. Patrons are again requested to book early for this great night’s entertainment. It costs no more and certainly obviates any chance of disappointment.
