The Depression in Hastings The unintentional “dig” at representatives of the Hastings borough was taken in good part at this morning’s cession of the Government committee's inquiry into Hawke's Bay rivers dis trict rating and ward boundaries. Counsel for Napier Borough Council, questioning the Rivers Board’s engineer: As a result of the earthquake, is it correct that there was a tilt in Hastings, and now there is a depression Before the engineer could reply, the Mayor of Hastings, Mr G. A. Maddison, interjected: A depression! Only in one spot.
