CHINESE FAIR

Hastings Festivities

PROGRAMME ARRANGED

The Chinese fair to bo held in the Assembly Hull on June 17 and 18, during ihe New Zealand Dairy Conference in Hastings, is now taking shape, and it is announced by the organisingsecretary, Mr G. E. G. Rogers, that the fair will be opened by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, and the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison. The fair will be open from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. on June 17, end from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., and 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., on the following day. Assistance is sought for donations of produce or refreshments for the various stalls, and anyone willing to give even the smallest quantities is asked to advise the Mayoress, Mrs G. A. Maddison. The executive has decided to enlist tho services of Mr J. Le Comte in the general organisation. At 3.30 p.m. on the first day there will bo a procession of tiny tots, and prizes will bo given for the best decorated pram, tricycle, scooter, wheelbarrow, and other entries On the following day, at 1.45 p.m., there will be a procession of people in Chinese dress headed by rickshaws and a Chinese band. The convenors of committees are.— Refreshments : Mrs Maddison ; supperroom decorations: Mrs H. Abbott; decorations: Mr Ttush Munro; erection of stalls and collection of produce: Mr C. Griffiths; side-shows: Mr A Giorgi.
