WAR RELIEF
Napier Committee
A meeting of the Napier branch committee of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association was held on Monday. Present: Messrs G. 8. V. Wenley (in the chair), G B Menzies, Dr. H. F. Bernau, H. Steele, T. H. Ringland and the secretary. The statement of payments and receipts for May, 1936. was placed before the meeting, and this showed that the transactions for the month had been as follows.—Payments: Grants to soldiers, 84, £163 9/8; grants to dependants, 2, £1 17/5; loans to soldiers, 7, £6O 12/7; total, £225 19/8. Receipts: Loans refunded by soldiers, 28, £B6 16/1; refunds on account of other societies, 1, £3 3/-; total, £B9 191. Eighty-four soldiers’ cases were placed before the committee, and grants amounting to £69 and loans £55 were authorised.
