QUIST'S TENNIS

Crawford’s Praise After Doubles Victory WILL MAKE HIS MARK By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright GERMANTOWN, May 31. In the evening, following his and Quist’s success in the Davis Cup doubles match, Jack Crawford, relaxed and in a genial mood, sketched for the Australian Press Association what was in his mind concerning Australia’s position in international tennis. He was asked who was going to win at Wimbledon, and was Ear on G. von Cramm, the German player, a menace. •‘Van Cramm is beatable," said Crawford. "It is hard to toll what is going to happen so early in the season, but trends are noticeable. I fancy that Australia will make her mark on this year's records. ‘‘Adrian Quist is my choice for top ranking sooner or later,” continued Crawford. “His steady climb to overfiner tennis is phenomenal and his improvement will still continue. His game had rounded out. He has the temperament for tournament, play. The foot-fault incident in the doubles to-day would break the nerve of a lesser figure, but it only made him more certain of himself. ‘‘He will give a good account of himself to-morrow in the singles and I favour him for Wimbledon. His evenness of play, his dependability in tight places and, above all, his increasing ■mastery of strokes, make him the best tennis risk in the world to-day.”
