Morse, when a letter from the Poft Ahuriri Progressive Association was read at the June meeting of the Borough Council last night. The letter dealt with the association’s objections to the passage of the local Bill relating to the acquisition of portion of South Pond, Port Ahuriri, for a recreation ground. The association’s letter read ns follows:— “Our association cannot fall in with your suggestion for it to withdraw its opposition to your local Bill, with youi threat that such might very easilv mean that no recreation facilities will be provided at the Port. Our association has never entered into the question of reclaiming and has only asked foi provision to be iiiaclo for the future and surely there is nothing wrong with that. No good purpose could be arrived at by your council holding u meeting with our executive al present. “With reference to the members of your council attending a public meeting at tho Port, we suggest that it is for your council to decide and to make its own arrangements.” Tho letter concluded by stating v.lml night it would ho convenient to the association for such a meeting to -take place
