The two beacons at M'estshore are now being reconditioned under the supervision of the engineer of the Napier Harbour Board, Mr G. W. B. Lowson. The concrete work of the beacons is to be reconditioned and tho rusted steel-work is to be cleaned. Decay and the effects of the earthquake have combined to bring the beacons to their present state. They were built in 1905.
