SNOW AT ROTORUA

Wind at High Velocity By Telegraph—Special to “Herald” ROTOStiA, May 3. During Saturday’s storm this Rotorua district experienced a slight fall of snow. A light sprinkling whitened tho sides of Mt. Tarawera, while at Mainaku snow fell to a depth of three inches on the hills. A fall was also experienced at Tokaanu and on the high levels of the Kaingaroa plains. The wind at times reached a very high velocity, whipping the lakes into surging white caps and driving sheets of spray across their surfaces. Minor damage to telephone wires and power lines was reported in various parts of the district but no serious interruptions occurred. Trees which fell across the road near the Terrace Hotel at Taupo broke telegraphic communication with Napier, whilo n break in (bo telephone lines occurred between Rotorua ami Taupo, tn both cases, however.
